Current Level of Health – Culmination of Small Choices That Define our Lifestyle

Most of us are wise enough to know that our current level of health is a culmination of the small choices we make each day that define our lifestyle.  These small choices turn into days, days turn into weeks, weeks turn into years then . . .  well, you get the picture.

We know how we got here.  The question now is how do we get out of the world of compromised unfit living that’s taking over our lives?

Your health affects everything in your life – work, marriage and children….

How well you perform at work is based off your mental sharpness, energy level and confidence, which affects your corporate value and income.

How good a spouse you are is affected by your mood and attitude.  Sometimes you’re not as nice and giving because you’re just too tired or your back aches and the pain killers make you drowsy and on and on . . .

I’m sorry to break the bad news to you but your kids would gladly give up some of the toys you buy them for some real focused quality time with you.  Oh, but you gave the best energy you had today at work.  And you did it for them.  Touching, but they’re not buying it.

For those of us with kids, it’s important to realize that one of the qualities we’re teaching them is balance and how to take care of themselves.  They are watching more than they are listening.

Your work will be much better when you keep a healthy balance of being a good parent and a top producer. Ouch, am I pushing some buttons?

People typically get fired up to do something from inspiration or irritation but the latter is far more effective so I hope you get fed up with the choices and lifestyle that have led you here and make the needed changes NOW!

Giving it To You Straight – for Self Motivation, beyond your wedding, beach vacation or reunion…

I’m going to give it to you straight, with a little love of course, so you get motivated enough to do something positive for you and everyone around you.

This is the same conversation I have with my clients to help them put it in perspective and get it in gear.  I think we’ve been watching too much TV and standing in line at the grocery store gawking over the airbrushed cover model a little too long.  That’s not what you need to think about when you consider whether you’re going to work out today or make better nutrition choices.  What’s going to work now and tomorrow is the real stuff I mentioned above.

I’ve been training for over 15 years and I noticed something very quickly my first year of training.  If you’re at this site because you want to get ready for a wedding, beach vacation, reunion or trip, you’ll probably hit your goal because of high temporary motivation.

But sadly, after the event has passed, you’ll stop training, get into even worse shape than when you started and come back in a year or 2 to do it all again.  I’ve seen it time after time and year after year.

My most successful clients have told me they wanted to start working out because:

  •     “My mom is diabetic and I know it runs in my family.  I don’t want to get sick.”
  •     “I feel better about myself when I work out.”
  •     “The doctor said I can control my blood pressure with diet and exercise.”
  •     “I have the energy to play with my kids and help out more at home.”

No, it’s not sexy, but it keeps them consistent and living the life we all want to live.  How would you feel about yourself if you were on a regular workout schedule and made healthy eating choices?
